DAY 01

Arrive at Cape Town International Airport. Collect your hired car and drive to your hotel.

OVERNIGHT IN A HOTEL NEAR THE WATERFRONT, ON THE ATLANTIC SEABOARD, OR IN THE CONSTANTIA VALLEY

DAY 02

After breakfast, visit world-famous Table Mountain (weather permitting), Cape Town city centre, including the Castle of the Cape of Good Hope, museums, the Bo-Kaap (Malay Quarter) and Houses of Parliament. Then on to the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront where you can enjoy markets, shops, the Imax Theatre, a harbour tour, or take a Catamaran trip to the famous Robben Island to view President Mandela’s former prison and other historic sites.

DAY 03

After breakfast, visit the world-renowned Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens, home to some 6 000 different species of flora. Proceed to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and Cape Point, boasting some of the country’s richest floral heritage. Stop at the beautiful Boulders Beach en route, which is home to the only Jackass penguin colony in the Cape Peninsula. At Cape Point you can enjoy scenic walks or take the funicular to the lookout point for a panoramic view. Alternatively, visit Hout Bay and board a boat to Seal Island, or visit the World of Birds. Drive along the spectacular Atlantic Seaboard via Llandudno, Camps Bay and Sea Point.

DAY 04

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and drive to the Winelands area (approximately a 60 km drive). Sightseeing options include visiting the wine routes of Stellenbosch, renowned for high quality table wines. Explore the country town of Franschhoek, rich in cultural and historic heritage, or visit the KWV Cellar Complex in Paarl, the largest in the world with more than 100 different natural wines, as well as brandies and fortified wines.

OVERNIGHT IN PAARL, STELLENBOSCH OR FRANSCHHOEK

DAY 05

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and drive to either Swellendam, Hermanus, Gansbaai, Arniston or the De Hoop Area. All are popular and close to the world’s best land-based whale watching destinations and award winning wine estates Enjoy the scenic beauty of these areas, as well as the mild climate and a range of outdoor attractions.

OVERNIGHT IN SWELLENDAM, HERMANUS, GANSBAAI, ARNISTON OR THE DE HOOP AREA

DAY 06

After an early breakfast, head for the picturesque Tradouw Pass, entering the “Little Karoo” at Barrydale. Continue via Ladismith, set against the imposing Swartberg Mountains, on to Oudtshoorn visit the Cango Caves, internationally renowned as one of the world’s great natural wonders with spectacular stalactite and stalagmite formations, the Ostrich Show Farm and Cango Wildlife Ranch.

DAY 07

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and drive to the Knysna / Plettenberg Bay area (approximately 190 km drive). Travel over the scenic Outeniqua Pass towards George, the sixth oldest town in South Africa, Wilderness, with its natural beauty of rivers and lakes and the picturesque seaside resort of Sedgefield.

OVERNIGHT IN KNYSNA OR PLETTENBERG BAY

DAY 08

After breakfast, take a cruise to the Featherbed Nature Reserve in Knysna, enjoy a trailer ride to the top of the Western Head, returning to lunch under milkwood trees. Afternoon at leisure.

DAY 09

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and head towards St Francis Bay or Jeffrey’s Bay. Drive eastward through the dense indigenous Tsitsikamma forests with giant yellowwood trees, waterfalls, lakes, mountains, streams and deep gorges. Continue through farmlands before reaching St Francis Bay or Jeffrey’s Bay (approximately a 210 km drive), both of which are picturesque seaside towns.

OVERNIGHT IN ST FRANCIS BAY OR JEFFREY’S BAY

DAY 10

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and drive to Port Elizabeth Airport (approximately a 80 km drive). Return the hired car. Fly from Port Elizabeth to Johannesburg.
