De Hoek Country House in serene Magaliesberg is hosting a food and wine weekend with lots of international flair and flavour on the weekend of 11 – 13 May 2012 (which also happens to be Mother’s Day weekend).

Arrive on Friday afternoon for a Tapas wine bar, and then settle into your divinely swish suite for some downtime before the evening’s fabulous food and wine event. De Hoek’s excellent cuisine will be crafted around Spanish and Californian wines presented by Steven Lack of the International Wine Company.  These will include Monastrell, Chardonnay and dessert varieties.

Perfectly replete, drift away into peaceful sleep in the countryside, and re-assemble on Saturday late morning for a sharing by local food producers such as Goat Peter, Kazi Farm, Orion Olives, Honeysuckle Honey Farm & David Brown from Breyers deli.

Then on to the next event, featuring some of Wine Spectator’s January edition ‘Top Champagne New Releases for 2011’, accompanied by snacks and fruit platters.

On Saturday evening it’s ‘Vive la France’, with offerings from the Terroir Bordeaux –  featuring Grand Crus, Cru Bourgeoises, and some prestigious Sauternes.  These complement the stunning six-course dinner.

Sunday lunch will be beautifully enhanced by a superb collection of New Zealand Pinot Noirs, Chardonnays and Sauvignon Blancs.
