The Nelson Mandela Museum has various sites: the Nelson Mandela Youth and Heritage Centre in Qunu, and the Bhunga Building in Mthatha. A third site, Mvezo, has an open-air museum which can be toured with permission from the chief. Nelson Mandela grew up in Qunu, a small rural village 32km south-west of Mthatha in the Eastern Cape, and was buried there in December 2013. Nelson Mandela Museum experiences include visiting the site of his primary school, the old church were he was baptised, favourite play spots from his childhood, his original Qunu home, his private home, traditional activities, exhibitions of gifts and artefacts, and more.
