About Shamwari Game Reserve

Shamwari Game Reserve offers a premier Big Five safari and conservation-oriented nature experience in a vast, malaria-free landscape of the Eastern Cape. Situated between Port Elizabeth and Grahamstown, Shamwari is the largest of the Eastern Cape's private game reserves and an undisputed conservation leader. Among its initiatives are a wildlife breeding centre, rhino awareness centre, animal hospital and anti-poaching unit. Several distinct lodges offer luxurious accommodation, prime relaxation retreats and family safaris.   Bayethe Lodge is a luxurious bush retreat under thatch set in view of a waterhole, and accommodates guests in secluded tented accommodation with superb views of the bush.   Eagles Crag Lodge is concealed amid mountain cliffs, accommodating guests in exclusive suites crafted from glass and stone and providing views of the surrounding rock face.   Long Lee Manor is an elegant Edwardian Manor House offering colonial-style accommodation, manicured pool-gardens, and terraces and verandas overlooking magnificent plains. Conference facilities are also available.   Riverdene Family Lodge is a beautiful frontier homestead where families enjoy a premier safari. Activities are available for children of all ages and include visits to the Animal Rehabilitation and Born Free Centres.   Sarili Lodge is a haven of contemporary comfort, set above the Bushman’s River with supreme views across grassy plains.
