Thonga Beach Lodge
About Thonga Beach Lodge
An utterly idyllic beach holiday awaits at the sublime Thonga Beach Lodge, set in tropical dune forest just metres from a pristine wilderness beach at Mabibi Bay on the Elephant Coast of KwaZulu-Natal. Giant turtles come to these shores annually, between November and February, to birth their young, and one of the highlights of a stay here is a night excursion to view these turtles on the shoreline. Thonga's exclusive experience of barefoot luxury also includes snorkeling on a protected reef; diving with launches in front of the lodge; swimming with whale sharks, dolphins and manta rays; and kayaking on Lake Sibaya. Wellness treatments are another irresistible option, in between incomparably idyllic beach pleasures. Thonga Beach Lodge forms part of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park World Heritage Site and is a dream come true for romantics, honeymooners and ocean-and-beach worshippers. Twelve luxurious thatched rooms - a few with private pools - are discreetly nestled into the dune forest overlooking the pristine Mabibi beach.
