Visit Kagga Kamma Nature Reserve in Cederberg South and be enchanted by the gigantic rock formations for which the Cederberg Mountains are famous. This is a wonderworld of nature. A dramatic landscape will cast its spell on you and reveal a multitude a wonders. Weathered rocks of sandstone stand as monuments to time. Wild animals and mountain plants, birds and reptiles are a part of this world – it is a magnificent wilderness to explore.
Make the 250 km car trip from Cape Town to Kagga Kamma (and here you may like to make a mental note that the trip takes about 3 hours and the last 30 km is on a gravel road).
YOUR KAGGA KAMMA ITINERARY (an approximation):
Day 1: Arrive for check-in at 14:00. Settle in to your wonderful accommodation. It could be a hut suite, or a cave room built into the rocks. It could also be a star or sky suite, set amid the rocks and open to the sky.
The Sundowner Trip departs at 16:00. Find yourself at a spectacular viewing point in the reserve, where you take in the wonder of the landscape, sundowner in hand. This outing takes about 2 hours. Your guide will have you back in camp in plenty of time for dinner in the lapa, under the twinkling night sky.
Day 2: After a fortifying breakfast, set off on a Bushman Art Tour. Your guide will share information about the rock art and the people who depicted their lives in this way. Return for lunch. Spend some quiet time in the afternoon, or do a Self-Guided Hike. If you have brought your own bike, you could go out and have a sensational Mountain Biking experience. Later, enjoy another open-air dinner and depart after that on a Late Night Nature Drive to see nocturnal animals.
Day 3: After breakfast, do a Guided Quad Bike Safari or Hiking Trail. Quad Bike Safaris are exciting adventures that take you to places on the reserve that would otherwise be inaccessible. Alternatively, do a self-guided hiking trail and appreciate the rocks and plant life at Kagga Kamma. There is a 4km and a 7km route. Get back in time for lunch, and thereafter put the afternoon to good use, at the pool or at the spa. Dinner, once again and weather permitting, is likely to be an open-air affair. Round off the evening with a Star Gazing Tour if the weather is good.
Day 4: Early Morning Nature Drive. Depart after breakfast.
MEALS
There is an a la carte menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and it includes some good choices for children, as well as Halaal, gluten-free and vegan options.
BOOKING OPTIONS
There are various stay options at Kagga Kamma. You can elect to book on a bed and breakfast basis; or dinner, bed and breakfast; or full board which includes three meals and two excursions daily. Kindly note that excursions that you choose to do that are not included in the rate you have paid, are additionally charged for.
