Arrive at OR Tambo International Airport, collect your hired car and drive towards Sun City and the Pilanesberg National Park. Set in the rocky crater of a long-extinct volcano, the Pilanesberg is a malaria-free region where almost all the mammals of South Africa can be seen, along with the Big Five safari celebrities.
Do some game viewing in the Pilanesberg National Park, or get a birds-eye-view of the park by taking a trip in a hot air balloon. You could also visit nearby Sun City – a hugely impressive complex of glitzy hotels, offering grand nightlife and top-of-the-range sporting and recreational facilities – two world-class golf courses included.
After breakfast, check out of the hotel / lodge and head towards the quaint hamlet of Dullstroom in the Highlands of Mpumalanga. This is approximately a 300-400 km drive. The area offers, horse riding, mountain rambles, fishing and plenty of country quietude.
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and depart Dullstroom for Hoedspruit Airport (approximately a 280-380 km drive). Return hired car. A representative from a private game lodge will meet you and transfer you to your lodge of choice. Enjoy a late afternoon/evening game drive and the special event of sundowners in the bush, before returning to a dinner feast at the lodge.
An early morning game drive precedes a hearty breakfast. Spend the rest of the morning at leisure or enjoy a guided bush walk. Enjoy lunch and relax at the lodge until the late afternoon / evening game drive, returning for dinner.
After the early morning game drive and breakfast you will be transferred to Hoedspruit Airport. Collect a hired car and visit some of the scenic spots for which Mpumalanga is well known.
