Named after the ship that went aground there in 1815, this is a popular getaway with lots to offer. Attractions include the old fisherman’s village of Kassiesbaai; the harbour where fishermen return with the fresh catch of the day; a rocky coastline; beaches and sand dunes; and the huge limestone caves of Waenhuiskrans. Sand skiing, kite surfing and the 6km De Mond to Arniston Trail are popular activities. The town as a whole is a National Monument.
