The Keurbooms River Nature Reserve, situated 5 km from Plettenberg Bay, stretches up the river for about 5 to 6 km. To experience the beauty of the reserve you can either take a ferry trip which lasts 2½ hours or you can hire a boat and travel up the river by yourselves. This is one of the more picturesque places of interest in South Africa, and there are a number of picnic spots next to the river with little beaches where you can spend your whole day swimming, tanning or fishing, whilst enjoying the stunning scenery and wonderful bird life.
