DAY 01
Arrive at O R Tambo International Airport. Collect your hired car and head for your hotel. Visit Gold Reef City later in the day, which is a replica of an early mining town. Here, you can descend 220 metres underground into the old Crown Mine. Enjoy the bars, restaurants and entertainment centre, and shops that reflect the old, pioneer town atmosphere. Alternatively, taste a number of the other spoils of Johannesburg, South Africa’s City of Gold.

DAY 02
After breakfast, check out of your hotel and drive to the Magaliesberg area (approximately a 120 km drive). Visit the Lesedi Cultural Village en-route, where visitors can experience at first hand the traditional lifestyles, art and culture of the Zulu, Pedi and Basotho people. Or choose other sightseeing options in Magaliesberg area.

DAY 03
Early morning departure for the experience of a lifetime in a hot-air balloon to enjoy panoramic views of the Magalies River Valley and Hartebeespoort Dam. After landing, enjoy a superb breakfast. If time permits visit the Sterkfontein Valley, one of the richest deposits of the remains of hominids such as “Little Foot”. The site has been declared a World Heritage site.

DAY 04
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and drive to the Madikwe Game Reserve, which has the second largest concentration of elephants in the country. Settle in at the lodge of your choice, and later in the afternoon enjoy a game drive which continues on into the evening, in search of nocturnal game. Return after dark to a dinner feast at the lodge.

DAY 05
Experience an exhilarating early morning game drive before breakfast. Spend the rest of the morning at leisure at the pooldeck, or enjoy a guided bush walk in the reserve, returning for lunch. Go out on another guided safari drive in the late afternoon / evening, stopping for sundowners in the bush and returning for dinner after dark.

DAY 06
After an early morning game drive and an enjoyable breakfast, check out of the lodge and return to Johannesburg.
