DAY 01
On arrival at OR Tambo International Airport, collect your hired car and drive to the beautifully serene Magaliesberg area (about 65 km). Soak up the tranquillity of the countryside, and explore the local Magalies Meander or select other sightseeing options. End the day with some fine wining and dining.

DAY 02
Check out after breakfast, and drive from the Magaliesberg area to the Rustenburg region, and to the glitzy and undeniably unique Sun City holiday resort (about 55km). Sun City is a pleaure-seeker’s extravaganza, featuring various extravagant accommodation options (Sun City Hotel, Cascades Hotel, The Cabanas and The Palace of the Lost City in rain forest surroundings); exceptional entertainments; casinos; world-class golf courses; and much more.

DAY 03
Depart from Sun City and drive to the Madikwe Game Reserve in the North-West Province (about 96 km) for your safari. This Big Five game reserve is one of South Africa’s largest, spanning about 75 000 hectares, and offers a spectacularly varied safari experience. Settle in at your selected lodge and enjoy the bushveld surroundings and lunch / high tea, before setting out with your ranger on a 4×4 safari drive. You will spend several hours tracking and viewing wildlife, with a stop for sundowners at a scenic spot. Return to the lodge for a wonderful dinner, which may be taken outdoors around a huge fire if the weather is good.

DAY 04
An early-morning start is well worth it, to experience the incredible beauty of the wilderness at sunrise. See what wildlife the new day yields on your second game drive, and then return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast. Therafter the day is yours to enjoy, in the privacy of your own suite or at the pooldeck. Some lodges have on-site spas offering a variety of irresistable treatments. Your next safari departs in the late afternoon, returning after dark for dinner.

DAY 05
By the third day of your safari, the wilderness will feel like a second home. The programme, once again, will include two guided safari drives, and perhaps an optional bush walk. Foot safaris are wonderful experiences, bringing an intimacy with the smaller creatures of the wilderness. Your guide will provide informative commentary and track identification. A fabulous dinner will conclude your last day in Madikwe.

Check out of your lodge and drive back to Johannesburg (about 208 km).
